Why donate to Mercury Theatre?

\
Mercury Theatre is volunteer-run organisation and a registered charity.  It is funded mostly from low-cost ticket sales from our performances. Your (tax deductible) contribution directly supports local creativity and culture, helping volunteers bring high-quality theatre productions to life in the bayside community.

You’re investing directly in grassroots creativity and local culture, the kind of authentic, live experience that streaming services and algorithms can never replicate.  Our Constitution doesn't allow a distribution of funds to its members so you can be confident that every dollar donated, is put to hard work producing a play or workshop!

It’s an eco-friendly investment because Mercury

reuses sets, costumes, and hires its venues to do more

with less, while still bringing bold ideas to the stage.

By donating, you’re helping preserve independent

voices and alternative stories—supporting theatre

as a space where the community can challenge

ideas, celebrate diversity, and imagine new futures.

We are a registered charity with the ATO so all your donations over $2 are tax deductible.

If you wish to discuss your donation or philanthropic goals, we invite you to have a personal conversation with our President.

In a world flooded with screens, your contribution helps maintain a rare space where people gather face-to-face, laugh together, and share stories - isn't that precious?
