Management Committee Nomination

Opens December

Our structure

Mercury Theatre is a vibrant and well organised theatrical performance group. It's activities are steered through its artistic programme, strategy and constitution, with the bulk of operational decisions made by the Management Committee (MC).  It has successfully operated for the past seven decades through the generosity of its keen and committed community volunteers and it's six member Management Committee.

The process

The Rules of Association require MC members to retire at the end of each year, with new members normally voted in at an annual general meeting.  This is normally held in February of each year. Retiring committee members are eligible for nomination. Elections are achieved through a double nomination application process and formal vote.  Mercury Theatre encourages diversity in all its roles and activities.  Nominations will open in December of each year and close 7 days prior to the AGM, normally held in February.

Current Committee

Can I apply for more than one role?

YES, but you can only hold one role.  For example Mandy wants to apply for Production Manager and Marketing Manager.  The counted votes showed Mandy with the most votes for both roles.  Mandy must choose her preferred role with the other going to the person with the next highest vote count.  Before you start your role you must be a financial member.  This is best done at the start of the year.

Can a married couple or partners have roles in the MC?

YES, but not generally in the roles of PRESIDENT and TREASURER. This aims to avoid perceived conflict of interest.

How committed do I need to be?

Time commitment in your exciting role will vary depending on the artistic programme for the year.  Traditionally, we have two major productions with events or workshops in between.  You will be required to attend a MC meeting approximately once per month to discuss and vote on key decisions.  This can be done electronically or in person. Volunteering your time and talents is a wonderful contribution to the Bayside community, so you are encouraged to give it a go!!! Everyone will be there to help you out!
